Soho loft
New York, New York
Residential, 2021
This 2,800 square foot loft sits atop a prewar building in the heart of SoHo. 16-foot high ceilings and stark white walls—in the absence of architectural details other than a cherub-covered stone mantel—served as the backdrop for a dynamic mix of furnishings: complementary colored olive mohair across brick-red leather, a custom bow-shaped ebonized oak dining table surrounded by woven leather steel dining chairs.
The scale of the room is balanced by a play on proportion: an oversized table lamp filling one corner across a 1960s vintage Italian floor lamp delicately sitting in another. Creating harmony in materials was inherently an equation, incorporating considered amounts of silk, stone, steel, shearling, mohair, leather and wood. A vintage French daybed and area rugs distinguish two seating areas for this young family.
